Hervé Pouliquen is a French jazz guitarist bred in the gypsy swing tradition (despite not being of gypsy descent himself) and I was lucky enough to see him in person and even chat a little in 2005 when he was playing with chromatic harmonica player Thomas Laurent in his Eastern Europe band Balya. When I saw him back then his face seemed extremely familiar, and I finally figured where I'd seen him: on Sanseverino's live DVD. Hervé was one of the two guitar players backing him.
Anyway, Hervé now has a website, http://www.hervepouliquen.com and for those who are based in or near Paris, it turns out he plays an early evening gig every first sunday of the month in the XXth arrondissement. All the details are on the website, but I for one intend to attend! For those who want to sample first, or indeed for those who wonder what Gipsy Jazz is exactly, there's a cover of Django Reinhardt's Swing 39 available on the website.
