A few weeks ago I finally splurged for a Behringer dynamic microphone, mixing table and firewire kit to hopefully improve the quality of my podcasts. Alongside the package their was a simple to use multitrack recording software which I have decided to trial today. This is the end result that I have entitled piti blues. Let's be clear, this is shoddy playing, and I don't pretend to be any better than what this features, but hey, readers over the years have asked for me to sample my stuff, so there it is for the first time in the open.
The recording features a weird chinese bass harp that only allows me to play bass lines in G for blues, a Hohner C364 in C and a Suzuki Pure Harp in C. The hardest thing to do was to have a consistent and stable bass line, especially since the low low low reeds of the bass hard have an inherent "latency". It feels as the tempo goes haywire in two and three places. I even laid a bongo track on top thinking it would stabilise the whole but it made the rhythmic glitches even more evident so I ditched it.
Anyway, just a bit of fun!
